THE PROTECTION OF VICTIMS ACT 2014 - EVE'S LAW

There are several ways you can help to raise awareness and support for Eve's Law and none will cost a penny just your voice.

Please feel free to copy any of the emails below and send to your local MP, PCC, family, friends and colleagues.

EARLY DAY MOTION 900 - MPS LETTER - please copy and paste and send to your MP - a list of email addresses can be found by clicking here.

Dear

Re EARLY DAY MOTION 900 - EVES LAW AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

I am one of your constituents. (REMEMBER TO ENCLOSE YOUR POSTAL AND EMAIL ADDRESS)

A Early Day Motion (no. 900) has been tabled by Rob Flello MP for Stoke-On-Trent South.

The EDM states:

"That this House recognises that victims of domestic violence and abuse are being placed at risk when forced to give their safe address in open court in unrelated proceedings; supports Eve's Law to address this dangerous anomaly; further supports Eve's Marker which would red flag the personal information of a victim of abuse as confidential and highly sensitive and would ensure that the data would never be publicly disclosed unless exceptional circumstances demanded it; notes that Eve's Law would protect victims of domestic violence in court on an unrelated matter; further notes that Eve's Law would close an anomaly which may deter victims of domestic violence from reporting abuse; and urges the Government to introduce Eve's Law."

This EDM as you may know has already gained significant cross-party support from all sections of the House of Commons and on International Women's Day the Home Office delivered a statement - the evidence has been accepted, there is now a commitment to act.

The issue of Eves Law has also gained widespread media and public support and all media links can be viewed by clicking visiting Eve's website http://www.evethomas.co.uk/Media.html.

Eve Thomas (a pseudonym ) a survivor of domestic violence and David Malone, a leading barrister, who launched the campaign for Eves Law - now championed by a large number of Members of Parliament - have said that Eves Law is common sense. We wholeheartedly agree with that opinion and we urge you to support and sign the EDM without delay.

If you feel unable to sign the EDM I would be grateful for a written reply to my correspondence as to why that is the case when such a simple, common sense, law will protect victims of domestic violence and abuse.

If you are able to sign the EDM I would be grateful if you could let me know when you have signed and to circulate my correspondence to your Parliamentary colleagues.

I hope and trust you will also actively join the campaign to support the immediate implementation of Eves Law both in Parliament and in your constituency. For example, you may feel able to highlight the issue with your local council, in your local press/radio/TV, via social media such as Twitter or Facebook and/or on your website. There is also, as you will see from the internet, a public petition both you and your constituents can sign.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,
