WARNING SIGNS
You are YOU and if you find that you are being forced to change who you are to please a partner or someone else then this could be abuse.
Do you know the warning signs of abuse?
Here are just a few.
Are you being criticised? Your clothes, your make up, hair, character, personality?
Does someone tell you that you couldn't cope without them?
Is someone jealous/possessive? Checking your phone, emails, social media. Wanting to know your whereabouts, who you are with, talking to?
Are you being verbally abused? (Remember emotional/verbal abuse IS a criminal offence.)
Are you being isolated, are you slowly loosing your family and friends?
Are you being told that you don't need anybody else?
Does someone's moods change - charming one minute, aggressive/violent the next?
Are your movements/whereabouts being monitored?
Are you being blamed for the abuse be it emotional, physical etc?
REMEMBER ABUSE IS NEVER YOUR FAULT!
It is our right as human beings to be able to live our lives free from any and all abuse!
Is anger and intimidation being used to control you?
Does someone insult you in front of others, try and embarrass you, belittle you?
Have you been threatened with violence, has someone threatened to hurt you, your family, your friends, your pets, your children?
Are you having to change your behaviour/character in order to please someone and avoid making them angry?
Are you being forced to have sex even though you don't want to? NO means NO - rape is still rape even if married or in a relationship
Is someone damaging your possessions?
Punching doors, destroying furniture in temper/anger?
Threatening to take the children away from you?
Locking you out of the house?
These are just some of the many warning signs. Abusers are very clever, sly and manipulative and will often put THEIR BEHAVIOUR ON YOU!
IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!
