My day

Hi everyone

Today I have learn't a lot, a few valuable lessons that not everyone can be trusted but none the less I now know not to put my phone, card and keys down on the checkout in Asda whilst I'm packing my shopping.

I was busily chatting to the checkout assistant when I saw, from the corner of my eye the man who I thought was waiting patiently behind me was in fact trying to take my phone.

At first I smiled at him thinking it was a mistake but the look on his face told me that he'd seen a window of opportunity and had got caught trying to take it.

Now at 4ft 10 and 6 and a half stone I probably looked like an ideal victim, was he surprised when he was confronted by a SURVIVOR!

I was calm and I wanted to reach out and fifteen minutes after our initial meeting we were sat on a bench chatting.

He told me that he had come into the country illegally and had no means of income and he stole to feed his wife and children.  This made me sad but a part of me and I guess that is my victim side was screaming for me to be alert and that maybe he was lying.

I offered him some advise and told him that this was no life for his family and an hour later we parted with him promising me he will not steal again.

Charlie, as he asked me to call him seemed a troubled man but I hope he is now a wiser man, wiser to how his stealing makes his victims feel.

Today has been a very good day!  Maybe Charlie will steal again, maybe his circumstances are that bad that despite him knowing now how his victims feel he still continues to steal. I hope not.

Stay safe
Survivors not victims!
Eve x
