#Eve's Law, LGBT & other news

Hi everyone

The sun is shining here in Bolton and today I am all set to begin the new phases of The Protection Of Victims Act 2014 - Eve's Law campaign.

Work has been completed on the Criminal Justice & Court Bill and I can announce that a letter has been received from the Deputy Prime Minister's Office declaring Liberal Democrat support for The Protection Of Victims Act 2014 - Eve's Law.  This news is most welcoming as the fight for "teeth" - legislation continues.

No victim should have to settle for silver - I am going for GOLD and every victim of domestic violence, child abuse, abuse, rape, stalking etc SHOULD be #SAFE, they deserve to be #SAFE.

A Voluntary Code Of Practise (CoP) is good but it is not enough and as I have stated before why mess around, why spend the time and money implementing something that WILL fail victims on EVERY level - common sense is prevailing we just need a little more, lets do this job right, it is time that victims came first!

As you all know I live in the North West and so it is with a big smile that I formally announce that all four of the North West's Police and Crime Commissioners are supporting The Protection Of Victims Act 2014 - Eve's Law becoming primary legislation.  Tony Lloyd - GMP, Clive Grunshaw - Lancashire, Jane Kennedy - Merseyside and John Dwyer Cheshire.  I will be contacting all 4 today to explore how we can make the North West the first #SAFE region.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Police & Crime Commissioners throughout the country who have also declared their support.

The really BIG thank you goes to the general public who have supported not only the campaign but also myself - THANK YOU.

It is with a very big smile that I can also announce that The Protection Of Victims Act - Eve's Law will be holding a raising awareness launch to the LGBT in Manchester. Greater Manchester is a fantastic place, alive and vibrant.  The planning is in the early stages and I have the support and help of some fab people but the more help and support to plan this the better so if you have any ideas or can help in anyway please give me a shout - email evethomas@evethomas.co.uk

Eve's Law is for EVERYONE, man, woman and child.  It is time to raise awareness and really get the word out there to reach as many people as possible.  #SAFE must mean #SAFE.

Your voice be it spoken or type is FREE and I have always said I ask for not one penny - please lend me your voice and help me reach silent victims and raise awareness - The Protection Of Victims Act 2014 - Eve's Law is here to stay and I will not settle until EVERY victim is protecting with the FULL weight of the law!

I hope you all have a wonderful day.  Sending smiles and hugs that I hope you will share with all who cross your path, they too cost not one penny.

Join your voice with mine to make #OneVoice, #OneVoice that will NEVER be silenced.

VICTIMS 1ST - #SAFE should mean #SAFE - WE DESERVE IT!

Three years ago I was offered a wheelchair and an adapted wet room, I was almost broken both in mind and in body but I refused to let abuse rule my life anymore and so I fought hard and claimed back what was rightly mine, MY life!  I am now off disability benefits and looking for work and I cannot wait to really claim back ALL of my life. Yes I still have health problems but I have peace in my life and so it is much easier to cope with and challenge.

I have a saying 'domestic violence didn't break me it made me!'  I hope that silent victims can see that there IS life after domestic violence, you CAN claim back YOUR life, YOUR smiles - they are YOURS!

By some I have always been seen as a "victim" not the strong, educated, empowered, determined woman I am.  I hope those who were ignorant enough to judge me as just a "victim" now have a #victims education - never under estimate a "victim" we are stronger than you think and have many different facets.  I guess I have been a "victim" of sterotyping - the poor, little beaten woman from Bolton who gets on her soap box - LOOK AGAIN, my words, my actions, my research and work speak for themselves.

Have a #SAFE day everyone and remember you are never alone.  There are some wonderful and truly professional organisations out there who are just waiting to help, OneVoice Never Silenced only signpost to THE very best help so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Before I go - if you haven't signed the petition you can here.  I will be sending out links in tweets and on facebook and if you could lend me your voice that would be great - the more awareness we can raise the better.

Eve x
